If you are an adult and don't appreciate how important Veterans are, then the following vignette won't help. But if you are and you do, it's a great reminder that our freedoms are far from free. If you are not yet an adult, perhaps this vignette will give you an appreciation of how important Veterans are. There may not be many things worth fighting for, but freedom heads that list and Veterans are the ones who have done the fighting.

who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN,
who salutes the Flag,
who serves under the Flag,
ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD,
AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.
